About Thika

Why Thika clients hire from us.

Thika is far enough that we honestly don't recommend the weekly commute. Most Thika students learn with us live online over the term, with one or two in-person sessions per term timed around a Saturday family trip to Nairobi. The Mount Kenya University community knows us well.

We've been teaching out of Kikuyu since 2016 — Concerto's roots are right here in this corner of Kiambu.

01Do you deliver hire equipment to Thika?+

Thika is outside our normal delivery radius. We can hold the gear at our Kikuyu store for collection on your event day, or you can arrange a courier — Sendy works well for mics, stands, and small accessories.

02How are hire rates calculated — by day, weekend, week?+

Daily rates are the base. A weekend (Friday pickup, Monday return) is 2× the day rate. A full week is 4×. Longer hires get a custom quote. The clock starts on collection / delivery and ends on return.

03Is there a deposit?+

Yes — a refundable security deposit per item, returned in full when the equipment comes back in the condition it left. For first-time hirers we keep it conservative; established clients (schools, churches, repeat event organisers in Thika) operate on account.

04What gear is available?+

PA systems (300W to 2,000W), drum kits (acoustic + electronic), keyboards and stage pianos, vocal microphones (Shure SM58 and similar), instrument mics, monitor wedges, stands and cables. Lighting and projectors are on request. See the full catalogue at /equipment-hire.

05What if something breaks during the event?+

Fair wear and tear is expected — we don't bill for it. Drops, spills, missing parts and theft come off the deposit at replacement cost. Every piece is tested in front of you at handover and tested again at return, so disputes are rare.

06How far ahead should I book hire for an event in Thika?+

Weekend dates fill up two to three weeks ahead in school exam season (Nov, Mar) and around festive dates. Mid-week is usually available with 24–48 hours notice. For large multi-day hires, book at least a week ahead.
