Adjudication · Music festival

Independent festival adjudication.

KMF zonal festivals, inter-school music days, parish festivals — anywhere multiple entries need to be heard, scored and given fair feedback in a day. Concerto adjudicators are KMF-rubric-aligned, write actionable feedback per entry, and travel within 100 km of Nairobi and Kikuyu.

What's included

The engagement, end to end.

01

Pre-event briefing.

30-minute call with the festival organiser to agree the rubric, categories, scoring scale, and the format of feedback (written / spoken / both).

02

On-the-day adjudication.

Trained adjudicator attends in person — listens, scores, takes notes per entry. Standard adjudication etiquette: no public commentary during the round, written feedback after.

03

Per-entry written feedback.

Each entry receives a one-page rubric-aligned feedback sheet within 72 hours of the festival. Useful for the entrants, useful for the organisers, useful for next year.

04

Optional: closing remarks.

For festivals where it's welcome: a 5-minute closing address summarising trends, what went well, what to develop. Often the highlight for organisers.

Frequently asked

For school administrators.

01Are you officially KMF-registered adjudicators?+

Our adjudicators include officially KMF-registered judges for some categories. Where we don't hold the formal registration, we use KMF-published rubrics + our trainers' KMF-coaching experience to deliver feedback at the same standard. Specific credentials shared at booking.

02Can you adjudicate categories outside your direct teaching expertise?+

We try not to overclaim. If your festival has a category we can't credibly judge, we say so up-front and either propose an alternative or refer you to a colleague-adjudicator who can. Reputation > one-off booking.

03How many adjudicators do we need?+

For most school-internal festivals: one. For zonal KMF: typically 2–3 (one per category cluster). We can supply multiple from our pool for a single event.

04What does it cost?+

Quoted per event. Variables: event duration, number of categories, number of entries, travel distance, whether per-entry written feedback is included. Written quote within one working day.

05Can the same adjudicator return for next year's event?+

Yes — and we encourage it. Adjudicators who know your festival's history give more useful feedback. We hold dates for repeat festivals on request.

06How is feedback delivered?+

Written per-entry feedback sheets within 72 hours, emailed to the organiser as a single PDF bundle for distribution. We don't hand feedback to entrants directly unless specifically requested.
