School orchestras, brass bands, recorder consorts and contemporary bands sound better with a trained ensemble director — someone who hears blend, balance and timing as a unit, not just as individual players. Concerto coaches join your existing ensemble for a project or a sustained termly engagement.

Sectional + full rehearsals.
Coach runs sectionals (brass / strings / winds / rhythm) plus full tutti. Players learn to listen to each other, not just play their own part.

Blend, balance & timing.
The skills that turn 30 players into one ensemble — dynamics across the group, breathing as a section, releasing notes together. These are taught directly.

Performance polish.
Final fortnight: full run-throughs with stage placement, presentation cues, conductor signals. Optional: coach attends the performance.

Final fortnight: full-run rehearsals, presentation review, dress rehearsal in performance attire.
06 · Performance support
Optional: coach attends the concert / KMF round for warm-up + conducting / cueing.

01Do you supply instruments?+
No — we coach existing ensembles. We can advise on instrument purchases or arrange short-term hire from our equipment-hire pool if you need to fill specific gaps.
02What if our players are at very different levels?+
Common. Our coaches choose repertoire that gives every section something they can do well, and split sectionals so stronger players push the parts they need while developing players consolidate fundamentals.
03Can you cover contemporary band as well as classical?+
Yes — several of our coaches gig professionally in pop/jazz/gospel bands. We can direct a contemporary school band (guitars, bass, keys, drums, vocals) with the same rigour we bring to a classical ensemble.
04How is the cost structured?+
Quoted per engagement based on weekly hours, total weeks, ensemble size and travel distance. Payment by bank transfer, M-Pesa Paybill (247247) or cheque. Net 30 days standard.
05Can the same coach work with our choir AND ensemble?+
Sometimes — depends on the coach's skill set. We have several conductors who comfortably direct both. Otherwise we propose separate trainers with co-ordinated schedules.
06How far in advance should we book?+
For KMF prep: 8–12 weeks before the county round. For an end-of-term concert: 6–8 weeks. Coaches with the right specialisms fill up; the earlier you confirm, the better the match.
